Anatomical Plate XIV — El Chupacabra
Rural Myth Co. | Field & Folklore
No museum owns this skeleton.
The witnesses drew it anyway.
Our Anatomical Plate XIV Chupacabra shirt recreates a nineteenth-century natural-history illustration documenting the hypothetical skeletal structure of one of the Southwest’s most notorious cryptids.
EL CHUPACABRA
The reconstruction is presented with all the confidence of a respectable scientific publication.
A hunched, upright frame.
An unusually narrow skull.
Enormous eye sockets.
A row of tall dorsal spines.
And two rather substantial fangs.
Each feature is carefully identified:
A. DORSAL SPINES
B. EYE SOCKET, OVERSIZED
C. FANGS, TWO (2)
And finally:
D. SPECIMEN NOT RECOVERED
Which does raise a few questions about the research methodology.
The subtitle explains:
SKELETON RECONSTRUCTED FROM WITNESS ACCOUNTS
Apparently, that was sufficient.
Rendered in Bone, Fog Gray, and restrained Rust Red on Pine Black, this original design combines antique scientific illustration with the enduring mystery of El Chupacabra.
It takes no position on the old debate about whether the creature was a mysterious unknown animal or simply an unfortunate coyote with a serious skin condition.
It just files the paperwork.
