Lepidoptera — Drawer 9
Rural Myth Co. | Field & Folklore
Eleven moths.
Twelve specimen pins.
One rather troubling inventory discrepancy.
Our Lepidoptera — Drawer 9 moth specimen shirt recreates a fictional natural-history museum specimen collection, complete with carefully pinned moths, handwritten-style archival labels, and an antique wooden display case.
Each preserved specimen rests neatly in its assigned position.
The wings are spread.
The labels are in order.
The collection appears to be meticulously maintained.
Except for the center pin.
That one is empty.
Its identification label has been torn.
And pressed into the backing behind it is the faint outline of a wingspan far too large to belong to anything ordinarily kept in an insect drawer.
The brass identification plate reads:
LEPIDOPTERA — DRAWER 9
The missing specimen’s label offers the only explanation:
PIN 12: EMPTY SINCE OCTOBER
No further information is available.
Apparently, the museum considers the matter closed.
Rendered in Tobacco Brown, Moss Green, Muted Gold, Oxblood, and Pine Black, this original design combines vintage scientific illustration with the unsettling mysteries of American folklore.
Part of the Field & Folklore Collection from Rural Myth Co.
Perfect for moth enthusiasts, natural-history collectors, museum lovers, cryptid fans, entomology enthusiasts, and anyone who appreciates a well-organized collection with one very poorly explained exception.
Eleven specimens accounted for.
One specimen missing.
Please do not open Drawer 9.
Available in Brick, Grape, Ivory, Moss, Mustard, Pepper, and Washed Denim.
