Lightning Bug Census
Rural Myth Co. | Field & Folklore
Every June, the census begins.
The volunteer arrives just after sunset.
He's approximately knee-high, covered in mossy fur, and extremely enthusiastic about his responsibilities.
Nobody has the heart to tell him he isn't very good at counting.
Lightning Bug Census is a cute woodland cryptid shirt celebrating the smallest and most dedicated member of the Rural Myth Co. summer field crew.
Perched on an old tree stump beneath a crescent moon, this cheerful little cryptid spends his evenings counting the fireflies that drift through the tall grass.
He brings his mason jar.
He keeps careful watch.
And he always leaves the lid loose.
Because nobody gets stuck during the census.
Rendered in warm bone, mustard gold, moss green, and tobacco brown, this vintage-inspired illustration captures the magic of summer evenings, the charm of old-fashioned nature programs, and the gentle absurdity of woodland creatures with volunteer positions. Available in Grape, Ivory, Moss, Pepper, Washed Denim, and Espresso.
