Lookout Point Rules — The Hook Man
Rural Myth Co. | Field & Folklore
The overlook has rules.
Rule four is the important one.
Our Lookout Point Rules Hook Man shirt imagines the classic Hook Man urban legend as a perfectly ordinary set of parking regulations posted at a secluded hilltop overlook.
The sign reads:
LOOKOUT POINT
PARKING AFTER DARK
1. KEEP THE RADIO ON.
2. LOCK ALL FOUR DOORS.
3. IF YOU HEAR SCRATCHING, DRIVE.
4. DON’T CHECK THE DOOR HANDLE.
And hanging from the lower-right corner of the sign?
One rusty metal hook.
Apparently, someone decided the problem had become common enough to require posted instructions.
Inspired by the classic lovers’-lane urban legend, this original design combines vintage roadside sign painting with the sort of practical advice you probably shouldn’t need.
The artwork features a weathered wooden rules board overlooking a moonlit valley, with tiny town lights glowing in the distance.
The sign is old.
The paint is chipped.
The rules are very specific.
And the hook is still there.
Rendered in Bone, Pine Black, Muted Gold, and Rust Red on Moss Green, the design captures the nostalgic atmosphere of mid-century American roadside folklore.

KEEP THE RADIO ON.
LOCK ALL FOUR DOORS.

DON’T CHECK THE DOOR HANDLE.
