The Bell Farm Spirit — Bell Witch Haunting
Rural Myth Co. | Field & Folklore
She knew every hymn.
She knew every secret.
And according to the story, she promised she’d be back.
The Bell Farm Spirit is a Bell Witch haunting shirt that recreates an early-nineteenth-century printed broadside announcing:
A TRUE ACCOUNT OF THE BELL FARM SPIRIT
ROBERTSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE · 1817–1821
Inspired by the legendary Bell Witch haunting, the design depicts a quiet Tennessee farmhouse beneath a crescent moon.
One window is illuminated.
The surrounding fields are dark.
And on the split-rail fence, something pale and indistinct appears to be waiting.
The folklore describes a mysterious disembodied presence that tormented the Bell family, sang hymns, repeated private conversations, and seemed to know things it had no business knowing.
The broadside summarizes the problem:
SHE KNEW EVERY HYMN AND EVERY SECRET.
Which is an impressive amount of information for something nobody could actually see.
And then comes the final line:
SHE PROMISED TO COME BACK.
Rendered in Bone, Muted Gold, and Pine Black on Oxblood, this original design combines antique letterpress typography, traditional woodcut illustration, and the atmosphere of one of America’s most enduring supernatural legends.
The farmhouse is quiet.
The window is lit.
And whatever is sitting on the fence apparently knows what everyone has been talking about.
