Our Wampus Cat — Highland Glossary Entry folklore shirt recreates a page from an old Southern Appalachian dialect dictionary, complete with traditional typography, numbered definitions, and a small woodcut illustration.

The entry reads:

WAMPUS CAT

wam·pus cat (n.), dial.

1. A creature heard whining about camps at night.

2. Whatever made that noise.

Which seems comprehensive.

The accompanying illustration shows a dark thicket of mountain laurel.

Two pale-gold eyes stare out from between the leaves.

The rest of the animal has declined to participate.
